CaroLib Non-staffed Source Service
If unavailable locally, NTIS reports, GOP documents, books, patents and dissertations are purchased from appropriate suppliers. Journal articles, conference papers and industrial reports, which are not available locally, are obtained from other libraries through interlibrary loan facilities or, in the case of industrial reports, from the firms that produced the reports.
CASSI, New Serials Titles, the Union List of Serials, the Union Catalog of Medical Periodicals, OCLC and other appropriate finding aids are checked for locations. In addition, CaroLib maintains its own database of sources for difficult to locate material.
CaroLib has accounts with such large research libraries as the John Crerar Library in Chicago and the Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, and the British Library Document Supply Centre and has document delivery arrangements with other libraries such as the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology and various U.S. Government libraries.
