How to Use Your Personal Spam Filter

All Intrex email accounts start at the default junk mail filter level. If you are receiving spam, you can adjust the filter to be more stringent. Below are directions for modifying the filter level, and adding email addresses to your Safe List and Block List.

To access your Junk Mail filter, log in to your Intrex email account through Intrex Web Mail. If you use an email program such as Outlook Express or Eudora, any changes made to your filter through Web Mail will also affect what messages are downloaded into those other email programs.

Changing the Filter Setting

  1. Log in to Intrex Web Mail

  2. On the left side under "Junk Mail", click on Filter Settings
(Here you can make your filter setting more stringent or more lenient from the default setting)

    • None: Select this option to remove the spam filter completely, so all mail is delivered to your Inbox
    • Conservative: Select this option so only the very obvious spam mail is not delivered to your Inbox (this option may allow more spam mail to be delivered to you)
    • Aggressive: Select this option to catch more spam mail, so it is not delivered to your Inbox (this option reduces spam, but the filter may catch valid email that just appears to be spam)
    • Safe List Only: Select this option to block all email except email coming from the addresses in your Safe List

    • Deliver to JunkMail folder for review: Check this option to have any email caught by the spam filter sent to the JunkMail folder. By doing this, you can periodically look through the messages in that folder to make sure no valid emails were caught by the filter.
    • Delete junk mail immediately: Check this option to have all mail caught by the filter deleted before it is delivered to you. Any messages caught by the filter will not be saved in the JunkMail folder, so you will not be able to see what was caught.

  3. Click Save Changes after you have made any changes to your personal filter level, or click Return to Web Mail if you have made no changes

Adding Email Addresses to the Safe List

  1. Log in to Intrex Web Mail

  2. On the left side under "Junk Mail", click on Safe List
(Here you can add email addresses to the Safe List to make sure any messages from those email addresses are not caught by the spam filter, and are delivered to your Inbox)

  3. Enter the email address...: In this text box, type the email address you would like added to the Safe List and click Add
(You can add up to 50 email addresses, and you will see each entry listed in the "Current List" box)

You can add a specific email address like "jdoe@domain.com", or you can add an entire domain like "@domain.com". By entering the entire domain, you are telling the spam filter to allow through all messages coming from a domain.com email address.

  4. To delete an entry from the Safe List, select the email address in the "Current List" box that you want to remove and click Delete

  5. Click Return to Web Mail when you are done

  5. Click Return to Web Mail when you are done
