Graphical Instructions
- To start the Internet Connection Wizard, click Start,
point to Programs, point to Internet Explorer, and click Connection Wizard.
- Select I have an existing Internet account through my phone line.... Click Next.
- Select Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet service provider or a local area network (LAN). Click Next.
- Select Connect using my phone line. Click Next.
- Select Create a new Dial-Up Connection. Click Next.
Note: If you have already set up a dial-up networking connection for Intrex.Net, select Use an existing Dial-Up Connection. Highlight the entry for Intrex.Net, click Next, and skip down to step 11.
- You will need to enter the dialup number for your area. Please choose the dialup access number which is a local call from your location. Intrex.Net is not responsible for any long distance charges.
- Uncheck Dial using the area code and country code. Click Next.
- Enter your username and password. Click Next.
Note: If you are connecting through a Nationwide access number, enter username@intrex.net rather than just your username.
- You will not need to change any advanced settings for your connection.
Select No, and click Next.
- Type in a name for your Intrex.Net connection. The default name will be "Connection to xxx-xxxx". We recommend changing the default to Intrex.Net so it is easier to distinguish the dialer in later sections of the setup, or if you have more than one dialup provider. Click Next.
- To set up Internet Mail for Intrex.Net, select Yes and click Next.
- Select Create a new Internet mail account. Click Next.
Note: You will not see this step if you have not set up an email account before. Go to step 13.
- Fill in the information for your name. What you enter here will be
displayed to anyone who receives email from you, in addition to your actual email address. Click Next.
- Enter your email address in all lowercase characters in the following
format: username@intrex.net. Click Next.
- Fill in the information about the mail server: Enter pop.intrex.net for "Incoming (POP3) server", and smtp.intrex.net for "Outgoing (SMTP) server". Make sure POP3 is selected as the server type. Click Next.
Note: If you are connecting through a Nationwide access number, enter gmail.intrex.net for the outgoing mail server.
- To retrieve your email, select Log On Using, enter your username for "POP3 account name", and enter your password for "Password". Click Next.
Note: Usernames and passwords are entered in all lowercase characters, unless your password contains upper- and lowercase characters.
- By default, pop.intrex.net will be selected as the friendly name for your mail account. Click Next.
- Select Yes to set up Internet news, and click Next. If you do not want to set up Internet news, select No, click Next, and skip to step 24.
- Select Create a new Internet news account. Click Next.
Note: You will not see this step if you have not set up a news account before. Go to step 20.
- Type in your full name for "Display Name". Click Next.
Note: The Display Name will be sent with any messages you post to newsgroups.
- Type in your email address for "Email address". Click Next.
- Type news.intrex.net for "News (NNTP) Server". Make sure My news server requires me to log on is unchecked. Click Next.
Note: If you are connecting through a Nationwide access number, enter gnews.intrex.net instead.
- By default, news.intrex.net will be selected as the friendly name for your news account. Click Next.
- Select No to bypass the "Directory Service" setup. Click Next.
- You are done! Click Finish to save your changes. We recommend restarting your computer before trying to connect to Intrex.Net.
