Graphical Instructions
- To start the Internet Connection Wizard, click Start,
point to Programs, point to Accessories, then either point to
Internet Tools (if you haven't set up an internet account before) or
Communications (if you have set up an internet account before), and click Connection Wizard.
- Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually.... Click Next.
- Select I connect through a phone line and a modem. Click Next.
- You will need to enter the dialup number for your area. Please choose
the dialup access number that is a local call from your location. Intrex.Net is not responsible for any long distance charges. Click the Advanced button.
- Click on the Addresses tab. Under "DNS server address", select Always use the following. Enter 209.42.192.253 for "Primary DNS Server" and 209.42.192.252 for "Alternate DNS Server". Click OK, and click Next.
- Enter your username and password. Click Next.
Note: If you are connecting through a Nationwide access number, enter username@intrex.net rather than just your username.
- Type in a name for your Intrex.Net connection. The default name
will be "Connection to xxx-xxxx". We recommend changing the default to Intrex.Net so it is easier to distinguish the dialer in later sections of the setup, or if you have more than one dialup provider. Click Next.
- This screen will ask Do you want to set up an Internet mail account
now? Select Yes, and click Next.
- Select Create a new Internet mail account. Click Next.
- Fill in the information for your name. What you enter here will be
displayed to anyone who receives email from you, in addition to your actual email address. Click Next.
- Enter your email address in all lowercase characters in the
following format: username@intrex.net. Click Next.
- Fill in the information about the mail server: Enter pop.intrex.net for "Incoming (POP3) server" and smtp.intrex.net for "Outgoing (SMTP) server". Make sure POP3 is selected as the server type. Click Next.
Note: If you are connecting through a Nationwide access number, enter gmail.intrex.net for the outgoing mail server.
- Enter your username for "Account name", and enter your password for "Password". Click Next.
- Uncheck the box labeled To connect to the Internet Immediately…, and click Finish to save your changes. We recommend restarting your computer before trying to connect to Intrex.Net.
- After completing the Internet Connection Wizard, click on Start, go to Settings, then click on Dial-Up Networking. Right click on the Intrex.Net icon, and click Properties.
- In the Intrex.Net window, verify that the telephone number listed is correctly, then click on the Networking tab.
- Verify that the "Type of Dial-Up Server" starts with PPP, then uncheck any boxes checked under the "Advanced" section. Uncheck any boxes under "Allowed Network Protocols" EXCEPT TCP/IP. Click on TCP/IP Settings.
- Verify that Server assigned IP address is selected, and select Specify name server addresses. Type 209.42.192.253 for "Primary DNS", and 209.42.192.252 for "Secondary DNS". At the bottom of the window uncheck Use IP header compression, but leave Use default gateway on remote network checked. Click OK.
- Click on the Security tab. Verify that your username and password have been entered. If not, enter them here. Make sure there is nothing listed next to Domain. If you would like your computer to connect to the internet without any input, you may check Connect automatically. Verify that nothing is checked under "Advanced security options".
- Click OK. Close any open windows, and restart your computer.
