Triangle Sailing Association Membership Information |
![]()
The TSA is a sailing cruising club located around North Carolina's Research Triangle Park. The club consists of members from Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Sanford, and other surrounding cities. We plan trips every other week or so throughout the sailing season (which, for us, extends from April to November). That's officially. Unofficially, some of the members sail just about year 'round!
Club outings include local lakes (Jordan and Kerr) and coastal areas. Many of the members keep their boats on the Neuse River in Oriental and New Bern. About as many members own trailerable boats and keep their boats at their homes in The Triangle.
Coastal TSA outings include such areas as Beaufort, Belhaven, Ocracoke, Edenton, Harker's Island, and more.
Criteria for joining the TSA are:
Members must own or be part owner of a boat. In a family, only one family member need have a TSA membership for the entire family to become members.
Members must pay their dues within a reasonable amount of time.
Geography is certainly no restriction: we have folks from Durham, Raleigh, Garner, and Burlington!
There is a great diversity in the type of boats in the TSA.
Many of them are trailer sailors, many are keeled boats. Of the
keeled boats, most are kept on the Neuse River, and most of those are
kept near New Bern. The trailerables are mostly kept at the
owners' homes.
Club sailing events typically are centered around one of the towns on the North Carolina coast. Sailing places include (but are not limited to):
New Bern
Oriental
Beaufort / Cape Lookout
Ocracoke
Harker's Island
Jordan Lake
Kerr Lake
British Virgin Islands (Spring 1996)
Florida Keys (Spring 2002)
...and more.
Some club events occur on the local lakes, although usually only the trailer sailboats can make it to these (keelboat club members can usually hitch a ride, though).
In addition to the numerous club events held during the sailing season, there are many unofficial events organized by various individuals in the club throughout the year; these unofficial events are typically open to anyone who cares to go along.
The TSA is always out on the lookout for new and exciting places to go, and every year brings fun and exciting new challenges!
The best way to join is to attend one of the functions or meetings, meet the members, and get the new member information forms. These forms are available on this site under Membership Forms. Contact Larry Meisner, TSA Secretary, if you have any other questions.

Both new member and renewal fees are $30.00 this year. This does NOT include the TSA Burgee (pictured below), which is currently sold separately for $15.00. The dues will cover munchies and soft drinks at TSA events, but will NOT cover alcohol.
